#Melbourne: After the loss of the T20 World Cup final, Pakistan’s performance is being criticized in various quarters. Some described the struggle of the Pakistan bowlers with a score of 137 runs. Someone is pointing out where the party was lacking. However, former Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir directly questioned Babar Azam’s captaincy.
Mohammad Amir questioned Babar Azam’s decisions in the entire competition including the final. Babar Azam has been called practically a timid captain by the former left-arm pacer. Amir has been criticized for not using Babar, especially Mohammad Nawaz in the entire competition. Babar showed faith in Nawaz in the dressing room even though he failed to win the match in the last over against India. That video went viral in the net world. But Amir complained that Babar did not show courage to Nawaz despite verbally saying it.
In the final where the England batsmen were having trouble playing Shadab Khan, Amir questioned why Babar did not bowl despite having a spinner like Nawaz in the team. In an interview, Aamir said, ‘Harry Brooke could not play Shadab. Nawaz also has great weapons there. Had he bowled, he could have got a wicket. The captain has to be brave. The situation has to be properly understood. You couldn’t make a brave decision. These issues become more visible when the match is lost.’
Incidentally, Jos Buttler won the toss and decided to bowl in the T20 World Cup 2022 final in Melbourne. Batting first, Pakistan scored 137 runs in 20 overs. Shan Masood scored maximum 38 runs and Babar Azam scored 32 runs. Sam Curran took 3 wickets. England reached the target of victory by losing 5 wickets with 1 over remaining in the run chase. Ben Stokes played a match winning innings of 52 runs.
