According to family members, nothing was stolen from the trucking company and all the jewelery was on the body of the deceased. After the abduction, an ATM card belonging to one of the victims was used in Atwater, about 14 kilometers north of Merced, Warnock said. However, the kidnapper did not demand any ransom. Investigators have so far found no link between Salgado and the Indian-origin family. No information was available on whether they knew each other before the abduction.
