#Birmingham: India won gold again at the Commonwealth Games. Wrestler Deepak Punia won India’s ninth Commonwealth Games gold in the 86kg category by defeating arch-rival Mohammad Inam of Pakistan. The score was 0-3, he was only 23 years old. In 2021, he had to lose his bronze medal in Tokyo Olympics (2020) despite playing extremely well. But this year’s success surpassed everything.

Deepak Punia won the men’s 86 kg category. The Indian wrestler defeated New Zealand’s Matthew Oxenham in 3 minutes 22 seconds to reach the quarter-finals of the men’s 86 kg category. Punia defeated Oxenham by gaining 10 technical points. After that, Deepak Punia made it to the last four by defeating Sierra Leone’s Sheku Kasegbama in the quarter finals.
