A few days ago, Priyanka Gandhi was arrested on her way to visit the families of those killed in the violence in the peasant movement in Uttar Pradesh, India. He was kept in a guest house. The Congress leader cleaned the guest house herself with a broom. That picture quickly went viral through social media.
This time the Congress leader has taken the broom again. However, Priyanka Gandhi took up the broom as part of the clean-up operation, Indian media NDTV reported on Saturday.
According to the report, Priyanka Gandhi took part in a clean-up operation with the Dalit community in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, on Friday. At that time he took part in the cleaning work with the Dalits with a broom.
Priyanka has also posted about this on small blogging Saeed Twitter. In the post, he said his team members would take part in a clean-up operation of the Balmiki temples on Saturday.
Meanwhile, when the picture of Priyanka sweeping the guest house after her arrest went viral, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath scolded Priyank, saying people thought he was fit for such a job.
Responding to Adityanath’s remarks on Twitter, Priyanka said to the Dalit community, “She has not only insulted me by saying that, she has also insulted millions of Dalit siblings involved in cleaning work.”
“I’m here with you to do the cleaning,” he said. And I have also come to inform Yogiji that working with a broom is also self-respecting.
He further said on Twitter that today the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh has shown anti-Dalit attitude. Members of all the district congress committees in Uttar Pradesh will clean the Balmiki temple tomorrow. India will not tolerate the humiliation of millions of Dalit men and women.
