Sun News Desk: Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Banaspati Manufacturers Association has proposed to increase the price of soybean oil by 15 taka per liter in the country’s market.

The proposal was submitted to the senior secretary of the Ministry of Commerce on Tuesday (November 1).


The letter states that due to the increase in the price of crude oil in the international market and the abnormal depreciation of the rupee against the dollar, the members of the association have proposed to increase the price of bottled soybean oil to 193 rupees per liter. The current market price of bottled soybeans is Tk 178 and the price per liter will increase by Tk 15.


The organization has proposed to make 5 liter bottled soybean oil Rs.955. Currently, the market price of 5 liters of bottled soybean oil is Tk 880. The organization has proposed to increase the price of 5 liter bottle by 75 taka. Apart from this, the price of open soybean oil per liter has been proposed at Tk 173. Open soybean oil is currently selling at Tk 158 per litre. It has been proposed to increase the price of open soybean by Tk 15 per liter.

Just a month ago, the price of soybean oil was reduced by Tk 14 per liter in the country’s market. Now again it has been proposed to increase the price by 15 rupees per liter.


However, the government has not yet taken any final decision on increasing the price of soybeans. Usually, the ministry takes a decision after scrutinizing the proposal from the businessmen.
