Sun News Desk: Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral has begun. The first procession of the day started at around 11.30am UK time. The Queen’s coffin is being slowly carried from Westminster Hall to Westminster Abbey for a state funeral.

Garrison Sergeant Major Andrew Stroke led the procession. The crowd slowly began to walk towards Windsor Castle. Among them are young members of the queen’s family, as well as older soldiers.

She will be buried next to her late husband the Duke of Edinburgh, her father King George VI, her mother and sister Princess Margaret.

This time everyone has come to witness not the beginning of a new era but the end of an era. About 2,000 people are attending the funeral of the queen. Thousands of people have started gathering on the streets of the capital.

Before the funeral, King Charles III said he was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for him and his family. Foreign royals and world leaders are also taking part.

Many shops, businesses and banks, including schools, will remain closed today. The funeral procession carrying the Queen’s body from the Abbey will be taken to Hyde Park Corner in central London. The Queen’s body will then be taken to Windsor Castle.

Guests began entering Westminster Abbey shortly after the doors opened at 8am local time. Parliament Square and Victoria Street are closed to normal traffic around the event.

Meanwhile, the politicians have entered the Abbey and started taking their seats. Queen Consort Camilla was joined by her son Tom Parker Bowles, along with other family members. Besides current and former ministers of the UK, politicians from Ireland and Scotland have also started arriving.

It has been arranged to say goodbye to the queen through various ceremonies. The death of Queen Elizabeth II of Britain has cast a shadow of mourning across the country. Earlier, an announcement from Buckingham Palace said that his funeral will be held on September 19. A holiday has been declared in Britain on this day.

It should be noted that on September 8, Queen Elizabeth II, the head of the British royal family, breathed her last in Scotland’s Balmoral Palace. The 96-year-old queen was suffering from physical complications due to old age.

The queen who ruled Britain for 70 years is being bid farewell royally. However, the royal funeral of Elizabeth II is followed today in London and Windsor.

Pre-burial ceremonies will begin at 4pm local time at St George’s Chapel, where the Queen will be laid to rest. Later at 7.30pm the royals will return to the chapel.

Queen Elizabeth II will be buried there next to her husband, the late Duke of Edinburgh, in a family burial.
