President Vladimir Putin said this in a video message on Sunday (October 9) on the occasion of Agricultural and Processing Industry Workers’ Day. This was stated in a report by the Russian media outlet Taser.

Putin said, I am meeting all internal needs. Besides, we are also looking at increasing exports. In addition to preparing to eliminate the global food problem, Putin also said about the necessary cooperation for poor countries.

The Russian President said that the efforts of the workers of agriculture and processing industry are yielding positive results.

Putin also said that the unprecedented Western sanctions have created new challenges for the agricultural sector. But these will be solved jointly. He also said that they should use the ban to develop themselves.

Ukraine and Russia supply one-tenth of the world’s food. They produce 30 percent of the world’s wheat exports as well as 60 percent of sunflower oil. At least 26 countries depend on Russia and Ukraine for more than half of their food grains.

Incidentally, the conflict between pro-Russian rebels and government forces in eastern Ukraine began on February 17. On February 21, Russia sent troops to the region to maintain peace by recognizing the two states of the rebels, the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Luhansk People’s Republic.

In contrast to the ban, the import of food grains including fuel, edible oil, gas and coal from Russia has increased, increasing the prices of daily necessities. Inflation has occurred in various countries.

The Ukraine-Russia war has been going on for more than 6 months. Recently in Kharkiv, the Ukrainian army launched a counter-resistance war. Ukraine claims that the Kremlin’s troops are retreating.
