Md. Delwar Hossain, Dhaka: The eleventh edition of the Communication Summit was held on Saturday (August 13) at the Sheraton Hotel in the capital. The conference was co-sponsored by The Daily Star and Cannes Lions in the presentation of Bangladesh Brand Forum.

The theme of this year’s conference was Creativity in Challenging Times. During the Corona period, the means of global communication are widely interrupted. But this pandemic has also brought innovation to our creative communication practice and introduced us to more effective approaches.

Therefore, the main theme of this year’s communication summit was about the various relevant aspects of creativity and effective communication practices in the post-pandemic world.

The conference provides a forum for global and leading industry entrepreneurs, policy makers and intellectuals. They discuss various forms of effective communication through interaction and narrative experience.

Shariful Islam, Founder and Managing Director of Bangladesh Brand Forum, in his opening speech of the conference said, “Creativity has opened up new possibilities in these difficult and challenging times, which will clearly change the mindset and perspective of stakeholders to prepare and move forward for better results”.

The main activities of the Communication Summit consisted of 4 keynote sessions, 5 panel discussions, 2 case studies and a conversation.

Keynote speakers at this year’s conference included: Tae Guan Hin, Group Chairman, BBDO, Singapore; Sumanth Chatterjee, Chairman and Chief Creative Officer, 82.5 Communications, Ogilvy Group; Syed Gausul Alam Shaon, Managing Director and Country Head, Gray Group Bangladesh and Dave McKagan, Hot Leader and Storyteller, Bibliosexual; Co-Founder Marketing Futures.

A key point that came up again and again at the summit was that if we are to adapt to every changing media, communication and digital medium, we need to constantly improve ourselves through practical experience and institutional knowledge.

Sumanth Chatterjee, Chairman and Chief Creative Officer, 82.5 Communications Key-note speech on the importance of advertising in tough times; and discusses how the need to balance new and traditional advertising will drive us forward.

In another key-note talk, Tae Guan Hin, Group Chairman, BBDO discussed how changing oneself is necessary with future changes.
