Sun News Desk: Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said, Bangladesh is moving fast. The development of Bangladesh is now visible. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the work of building 100 Special Economic Zones in important places of the country is progressing rapidly. Several are in the final stage. There are investment opportunities in different countries. Bangladesh also has sufficient skilled manpower. Bangladesh is a big market of about 17 crore people. Besides, there are huge markets in India and China.

He said, there is an opportunity to export products in Bangladesh at low cost. The government is providing ample investment facilities here, which is very attractive for investors. Bangladesh also provides security for all types of investments. Any country will benefit if it invests in Bangladesh.
The minister said this while addressing the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the three-day 35th CEO meeting of the Asian Trade Promotion Forum (ATPF) on Wednesday (October 19). The event was organized in an elite hotel in Dhaka.

The commerce minister said that there are about four billion people living in the Asia Pacific region. Through the Asian Trade Promotion Forum, mutual information exchange, jointly taking up projects and implementing them will benefit all. This forum can play an important role in the economic development of the region.
Tipu Munshi said that for the last two-and-a-half years, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the global economy has been in recession. Despite this, the economy of Bangladesh was active. The recent Russia-Ukraine war has had an adverse global impact due to the energy and gas crisis, and Bangladesh is no exception. Still, the economy of Bangladesh is moving in the right direction.

Commerce Minister also said that Bangladesh has become a developing country after graduating from LDC. The country’s GDP growth is above 6 percent. Per capita income is increasing, all economic indicators are moving forward in a positive trend. The current business-friendly government of the country is providing all kinds of support for trade, development and employment creation.
Asian Trade Promotion Forum is a member of 23 countries. They are Australia, China, Bangladesh, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Lao PDR, Singapore, Nepal, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Macau China, India, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Brunei, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Chinese Taipei. And Vietnam.
The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) is serving as the forum’s secretariat. The 34th meeting of this forum was held on the Zoom platform on October 26-27, 2021.

This year the 35th CEO meeting is being held in Dhaka for three days (October 18-20). In addition to topical discussions, joint projects and implementation, trade expansion through network strengthening, identifying problems in regional trade and solving them through direct communication were created in this meeting.
Earlier, the commerce minister held a private meeting with the co-chairman of the forum and the chairman of Jetro, Nobuhiko Sasaki. Meanwhile, the minister called for increasing Japanese investment and trade in Bangladesh and sought cooperation in the field of technology.

Vice Chairman of Export Development Bureau AHM Ahsan spoke at the opening ceremony of the meeting, the special guest of the event was Tapan Kanti Ghosh, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, JETRO Chairman Nobuhiko Sasaki and FBCCI President Md. Jasim Uddin.
