Sun News Desk: The government will buy 90 thousand tons of bulk granular urea fertilizer in three lots. 30 thousand tons of fertilizer will be purchased per lot.

The government will spend 567 crore 84 lakh taka on purchase of fertilizer in these three lots. The 34th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement held on Thursday (November 16) approved three separate proposals for the purchase of bulk granular urea fertiliser.


The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal. At the end of the meeting, Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division Syed Mahbub Khan presented the details of the proposals to the journalists.

He said, Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) under the Ministry of Industries will purchase 30 thousand tons (10%+) of bulk granular urea fertilizer in the fifth lot from Fertiglobe Distribution Limited, UAE. Approval has been given to buy this fertilizer for 189 crore 28 lakh 47 thousand 369 taka.


In another proposal, Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) will purchase 30 thousand tonnes (10%+) of bulk granular urea fertilizer from Sabic Agri-Nutrients Companies, Saudi Arabia in 13th lot. It will cost 189 crore 28 lakh 47 thousand 369 taka.

Besides, in another proposal Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) will purchase 30 thousand tonnes (10%+) of bulk granular urea fertilizer from Sabic Agri-Nutrients Companies, Saudi Arabia in 14th lot. This proposal has been approved for 189 crore 28 lakh 47 thousand 369 taka.
