Kolkata: The Bengali team will play a warm-up match against Namibia, which is going to play T20 World Cup. It is good to say that this African country will prepare itself before the T20 World Cup by playing a warm-up match against Bengal. The Bengali team will play several preparatory matches against Namibia in September. The preparatory matches will be in T20 format. Bengal cricket team will visit Namibia between 1st and 10th of September.

How many preparatory matches will be played in Anushtup Majumdar’s tour is not yet final. However, the decision regarding the visit to this African country is final. As a preparation for the World Cup, a proposal came from the Namibia Cricket Board to the BCCI to organize a few matches. The proposal reached the CAB through the board. CAB officials agreed to tour Namibia with the Bengali team. CAB officials cannot think that Bengal has played such a preparation match against a major team of any country in recent times.

President Abhishek Dalmia gave a seal to the news of the Bangla team’s visit to Namibia. He said, “Namibia will play in the T20 World Cup. They are interested in playing a few preparatory matches before the World Cup. That is why we have been contacted. The Bengali team will go to Namibia and play a few T20 matches. The dates of the matches will be finalized in a few days.”

CAB president Abhishek Dalmiya, secretary Snehashis Gangopadhyay, joint secretary Debbrata Das, treasurer Debashis Gangopadhyay and other Bengal cricket officials met on Wednesday. In that meeting, the issue of the visit to Namibia was finalized. CAB has said that the Bengali team will go on tour with a strong team. Namibia was in India’s group in the last Twenty20 World Cup. Despite not making it to the knock out stage, the country performed quite impressively against teams like India and Pakistan in the early stages and main stages of the tournament.
